Captain Mark R. McDowell is an F-15E Strike Eagle pilot, 336th Fighter Squadron, 4th Operations Group, 4th Fighter Wing, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Goldsboro, North Carolina. The 4th is the largest F-15E wing in the U.S. Air Force and is home to the multi-role all-weather, F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft. The 336th and 335th Fighter Squadrons make up the two operational fighter squadrons on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

Captain McDowell entered the Air Force in 2001 through the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Upon graduation in 2005 he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics. He completed Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, and Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi. Captain McDowell completed the Basic Qualification Course - F-15E in May of 2008 and was assigned to the 336th Fighter Squadron at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina.
