4th mission support group

Mission
The 4th Mission Support Group provides all communications, base security and law enforcement, civil engineering, fire protection, logistics, contracting, personnel and morale programs in support of two flying wings, two training squadrons and a community of more than 25,000 people. The 4th MSG deploys, organizes, trains, and equips forces, capable to deploy worldwide to build, secure, and operate bases in support of combat forces. The group maintains six combat-ready squadrons.

About 1,556 personnel are assigned to the 4th MSG.

Organization
The group is divided into six squadrons: 4th Civil Engineer Squadron, 4th Communications Squadron, 4th Contracting Squadron, 4th Force Support Squadron, 4th Logistics Readiness Squadron, and 4th Security Forces Squadron.

4th Civil Engineer Squadron
The 4th CES is a 365-person squadron directly supporting F-15E Strike Eagle operations of the 4th Fighter Wing. The squadron improves, maintains and operates more than 373 facilities, 10 dormitories, and 686 housing units to include a geographically separated recreational site and county training range. The 4th CES provides fire protection, disaster preparedness, explosive ordnance disposal, environmental protection and maintains mobility readiness.

4th Communications Squadron
The squadron includes more than 80 personnel in 11 career fields assigned to the Operations Flight, Plans and Resources Flight, and Commander's Support Staff. The 4 CS is responsible for command, control, communications, and computers (C4) systems, operating and maintaining a $17 million network infrastructure and client support, enabling core services for two wings and seven tenant units. The squadron develops and implements Information Technology solutions, and provides knowledge management, information assurance, and communications security functions in support of more than 5,000 personnel. In addition, the 4 CS manages an average of $1 million in C4 upgrades each year and ensures land and air-to-ground communications in direct support of F-15E Strike Eagle and KC-135R Stratotanker operations.

4th Contracting Squadron
Contracting professionals provide business advice and strategy to manage the overall base acquisition program for the 4th Fighter Wing.  This 47-member squadron is responsible for all aspects of planning, award, administration and oversight of centralized and decentralized contracting programs worth more than $45 million annually in support of host, tenant and satellite units. 4th CONS ensures high quality, timely, and cost effective support consistent with federal acquisition regulations and public law, while also advocating for small business and seeking opportunities to increase competition. Additionally, highly trained and certified squadron Airmen deploy worldwide for contingency operations in support of Combatant Command warfighter requirements spanning a full spectrum of U.S. Air Force, Joint and Coalition missions.

4th Force Support Squadron
The 4th FSS ensures complete customer service for all personnel in the 4th Fighter Wing. The squadron provides quality military and civilian personnel services, education and counseling services, family support programs, the First Term Airman Center program and the Airman Leadership School program to all commanders and unit personnel. Additionally, the FSS provides mobility support and maintains readiness of deployable teams. The squadron enhances combat readiness, retention and morale through programs promoting well-being and quality of life for the 4th Fighter Wing and its personnel and dependents. The 4th FSS is responsible for human resource needs, dining, lodging, fitness, honor guard, family member programs, leisure activities and mortuary affairs.

4th Logistic Readiness Squadron
The 4th LRS is one of the Mission Support Group's most diverse squadron's with more than 375 Airmen and civilians in eight Air Force Specialty Codes. The squadron provides worldwide logistics support for the 4th Fighter Wing's F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft and support units. The squadron administers a $1.1 million budget, manages 4, 000 weapons, 12,000 mobility bags and 339,000 line items valued at more than $711 million.  The LRS's travel management office directs personal property shipments for 14,000 personnel in 18 counties. The squadron also operates and maintains a 587-vehicle fleet worth about $49 million and executes wing deployments in support of exercises, training, and contingencies. The 4th LRS additionally controls the receipt, storage, and issue of 45 million gallons of fuel and cryogenics annually while maintaining a $37.4 million infrastructure.

4th Security Forces Squadron
Members of the 4th Security Forces Squadron deploy in support of worldwide Joint Chiefs of Staff force protection commitments.  The squadron provides in-garrison force protection, oversight of the integrated base defense program and guidance on all security matters for assigned protection level resources and 13,000 military personnel, family members and Department of Defense civilians. The squadron also conducts weapons qualification and active shooter response training for all wing personnel.
