U.S. Air Force Airmen from the 435th Contingency Response Squadron secure a load to a C-130J Super Hercules during Operation Castle Forge at Larissa Air Base, Greece, Oct. 15, 2021. The 435 CRS is a scalable, cross-functional, rapidly deployable force designed to assess and open air bases, and perform initial airfield operations enabling the rapid standup of combat operations. Castle Forge is a U.S. Air Forces Europe-Air Forces Africa-led joint, multinational training event. It provides a dynamic, partnership-focused training environment that raises the U.S. commitment to collective defense in the Black Sea region while enhancing interoperability alongside NATO allies.
