Great idea nets sergeant 10K
Colonel Steve Kwast, 4th Fighter Wing commander, presents Tech. Sgt. Anthony Evans, 4th Equipment Maintenance Squadron, a check for $10,000 April 19 for his proposal submitted to the Innovation Development through Employee Awareness program. He received approval for an individual base waiver which grants the Air Force Repair Enhancement Program Circuit Card Repair Technicians permission to replace the light bulb inside the Thunderstorm Light Assembly when they burn out. Prior practice was to replace the entire assembly due to its permanent rivet features and being deemed XB3, at a cost of $761.88. The approved method allows the technicians to remove four rivets and replace the bulb at a cost of .81 cents, then install four new bolts with self-locking nuts. This new process will save the Air Force $178,772.00 in the first year. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Micky Bazaldua)
