Officials at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, are repositioning aircraft from the 916th Air Refueling Wing and the 4th Fighter Wing today.

The movement is a precautionary measure to avoid potential damage from high winds associated with Hurricane Joaquin. Air Force forecasters determined tomorrow's weather conditions may be unfavorable for a safe launch.

The base will also begin preparing Dare County Range and Fort Fischer Air Force Recreation Area for the impacts of Joaquin.

"I want to personally thank everyone in advance for their efforts to keep the Airmen, families, the base and defense assets safe in the coming days," said Col. Mark Slocum, 4FW commander.
