The 4th Civil Engineer Squadron's environmental flight is holding their annual Earth Day celebration April 7, in conjunction with the 4th Services Squadron's 11th Annual Car, Truck and Cycle Show and Easter Egg Hunt.

Earth Day activities will be set up next to a childrens' play area. There will be free T-shirts, frisbees, bird feeders, yo-yos and other souvenirs for children and educational opportunities on how Team Seymour takes care of the environment. Wildflower seed packets and tree seedlings will also be available for participants.

For those on-base residents seeking to improve their yard, the military family housing flower give-a-way is held from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the 4th CES compound on Peterson Avenue.

In addition to Earth Day, there will also be festivities for Arbor Day. Earth Day and Arbor Day are traditionally recognized together here to enhance awareness on protecting our natural resources and to emphasize the important role of trees in our ecosystem.

For the 8th year in a row, Seymour Johnson AFB has been recognized by the National Arbor Day Foundation by Tree City USA. Tree City USA is a program that provides national recognition for urban and community forestry programs in cities across the country.

The combined Earth Day and Arbor Day celebrations invite a renewed commitment to protecting our environment.

Team Seymour members are encouraged to stop by the Earth Day activities to share in the fun and education, said Kerri Grimes, 4th Civil Engineer Squadron pollution prevention program manager.
