Q: What is the Chaplain Corps?

A: The SJAFB Chaplain Corps provide spiritual care and the opportunity for Airmen, their families, and other authorized personnel to exercise their constitutional right to the free exercise of religion in the Goldsboro, NC area.  This is accomplished through religious observances, providing pastoral care, and advising leadership on spiritual, ethical, moral, core values, and religious accommodation issues.

Unit Team:

Chaplain teams directly/indirectly provide for the free exercise of religion.  Chaplains do not perform duties incompatible with their faith group tenets, professional role, or noncombatant status.  Religious affairs airmen ae vital to providing spiritual care and are assigned at all levels of command to facilitate spiritual care and ethical leadership.

Confidential Counseling:

Chaplains provide 100% confidential solution-focused counseling and crisis response 24/7/365.  This service is available regarding your spiritual, moral, and personal concerns.  Chaplains are available for premarital, marriage, family, and crisis counseling.  Appointments are highly encouraged to avoid waiting.

Religious Support:

The base chapel currently has active Roman Catholic and Protestant (Christian interdenominational) communities.  If you need assistance locating a faith group organization and/or would like to reserve any of the chapel facilities for a faith group event, please contact the base chapel for more information.  We are dedicated to directly providing or assisting with any and all spiritual care needs.

Sacraments, Rites, & Ceremonies:

Services such as marriage, baptism, baby dedications, confirmation, etc. can be arranged with the chaplain of your choice.  Pre-marital counseling may be required before a chaplain agrees to perform a wedding ceremony and may take 4-6 months to complete.
