In participation of National Police Week, Airmen from the 4th Security Forces Squadron held a series of events, May 12 - 16.

Among the many events was a tactics and shoot house competition, May 14. The competition welcomed law enforcement agencies and military police from across North Carolina - to include the Goldsboro Police Department, Wayne County Sheriff's Office, and the Special Response Team from Fort Bragg, North Carolina - testing their capabilities in tactical maneuvers, simulated munitions, and team movement skills.

At the end of the week, security forces Airmen held a retreat ceremony with a 21 gun salute to honor their fallen comrades.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.
