Corvias Foundation, the charitable arm of the Corvias Group and private organization, recently awarded a scholarship to a child of Team Seymour.

Fiona Pedrick, daughter of Maj. Gabriel Pedrick, 4th Fighter Wing deputy staff judge advocate, received a $50,000 scholarship to attend a university of her choice.

Corvias Foundation awarded scholarships to 11 students of military families. Contestants were selected from 13 Army and Air Force installations where Corvias Military Living provides housing.

“Each year, we are awed by the drive and determination in these military family members to reach high in their goals and dreams, and all the while giving back to their communities,” said Maria Montalvo, Corvias Foundation executive director. “Being able to support our scholars financially, and through ongoing mentoring and other opportunities, is an honor we cannot quantify.”

Pedrick’s family also expressed excitement and pride in her achievements.

“We were very happy to learn that Fiona earned [the Corvias Scholarship],” said Kathliene Pedrick, mother of the recipient. “We encouraged her to apply to the college that was the best fit for her, without consideration to tuition costs. Occidental has offered Fiona a merit scholarship and a generous financial aid package, but there were still some gaps. This scholarship means that those gaps are met and that she won’t have to take out student loans. It’s a big relief to us and makes her choice to attend Occidental an even better decision.”

Pedrick said she was thrilled when she received the phone call from Corvias Foundation.

“It was really exciting and rewarding to find out I had won such a big scholarship,” she said. “I had applied for multiple scholarships, from local to nation-wide, and I worked really hard throughout high school to be a competitive student.”

Throughout her four years in high school, Pedrick ran cross country, track and field, as well as participated in Drama, Debate, and Forensics (DDF), National Honor Society, and was the president of her school’s charter Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society chapter.

Pedrick said she will be studying diplomacy and world affairs at Occidental College in Los Angeles, California.
