Captain reconnects with history

Capt. Jon Koritz, 333rd Fighter Squadron F-15E Strike Eagle pilot, sorts through a box containing the letters of his father’s name from Senior Airmen Christopher Jordan and David Dillon, 4th Civil Engineer Squadron structural journeyman, Oct. 1, 2018, at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina. Koritz’s father, Maj. Thomas Koritz, was a 335th Tactical Fighter Squadron flight surgeon and F-15E pilot who was killed in action during OPERATION DESERT STORM. Soon after, his name was placed over the front entrance of the old 4th Medical Group’s clinic in honor of his sacrifice to freedom. When the clinic moved and the old building was slated for demolition the name was taken off the building and given to his son. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Phillip Butterfield)
