Telling the Air Force story

The 4th Fighter Wing Public Affairs Office is Seymour Johnson Air Force Base's direct link to neighboring communities and the news media. Our mission is to tell the Air Force story, build public trust and support, and enhance Airmen morale and readiness. Public Affairs contributes to global influence and deterrence by releasing timely, accurate information on Air Force people, activities and capabilities.

tabOperations
The Operations division is Seymour Johnson's liaison with local, regional, national and international news media. We tell the 4th Fighter Wing story by writing news articles and press releases on significant events. We also respond to media queries, arrange interviews and coordinate other activities to enhance the relationship with members of the press.

Media personnel are required to be escorted at all times while on the installation. For more information, call 919-722-0027.
tabCommunity Outreach
The Civic Outreach division serves as the liaison between Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and neighboring Wayne County communities. Public Affairs representatives can help civic groups schedule a base tour or find the perfect speaker for an event. Our Air Force family has many careers and job occupations we can tell you about.

Flyover Request

4th Fighter Wing Speaker's Bureau:
The Air Force Speakers Program works to increase face-to-face contact with the public to help build and sustain understanding and support for our service during this critical time in our nation's history. The men and women of SJAFB make excellent guest speakers for civic organizations, schools, universities and community events. Active duty military and civilians here have numerous Air Force topics they can discuss with the public about the wing mission, the base's economic impact and our role in national defense.

Requests for a speaker require a minimum of 30-days notice. For more information or to make a request, call 919-722-0027 or visit www.afoutreach.af.mil/afspeakers.

ROTC Tours: The 4 FW/PA offers tour assistance to area high school and college ROTC units. Base tours require a minimum of two-weeks notice to schedule a visit. These tours help students learn the Air Force way of life.

Public Tours: The City of Goldsboro and SJAFB partner together to create a monthly tour that is open to the public. Tours are hosted the last Thursday of each month throughout the year. Guests see the F-15E Strike Eagle and the KC-135R Stratotanker to learn how we provide airpower on-target, on-time for America. Photography is welcome during the tour. To add your name to the guest list or schedule a group tour, call the City of Goldsboro's Tourism Department at 919-734-7922 or 1-866-440-2245.
