Chief Master Sgt. William Adams biography photo CHIEF MASTER SGT. WILLIAM D. ADAMS III

Chief Master Sergeant William D. Adams III serves as the Command Chief, 4th Fighter Wing, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina. He is the primary advisor to the wing commander on matters affecting mission readiness through morale, quality of life, utilization, health and welfare of the wings enlisted forces. With approximately 5,700 active duty military members and civilians, the wing conducts and supports air combat operations. The wing's mission is driven by two combat-ready F-15E Strike Eagle fighter squadrons and two training fighter squadrons. CMSgt Adams was raised as a U.S. Army dependent in locations around the world. He entered the Air Force in September 1991 and completed the USAF Combat Control training pipeline in March 1993. His background includes various joint leadership positions in the Air Force and Special operations community. He has participated in numerous combat deployments in Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa and other sensitive areas around the globe. Prior to his current position, Chief Adams was the Group Superintendent of the 720th Special Tactics Group, Hurlburt Field, Florida. His qualifications include, Master Static Line Parachutist, Master Military Freefall Parachutist, and Combat Diver.
