SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- If you volunteer or know someone who volunteers, here is an opportunity for all volunteers to be recognized. The 2018 Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony and Social is scheduled for 1-3 p.m. April 19 at Heritage Hall.
Volunteers contribute much time, dedication and enthusiasm to the base and local communities. The President's Volunteer Service Awards recognize volunteers' commitment to programs and communities. They are ordinary people who accomplish the extraordinary through volunteerism. The time period for recognition is March 1, 2017, through Dec. 31, 2017.
Volunteers must access either: “My Air Force Volunteer” https://myairforcevolunteer.com or through the My Volunteer App; learn more about it on our YouTube page. If you already have an account at the President's Volunteer Service Award web site at, www.presidentialserviceawards.gov (Reminder please enter your category, "Adult, or Young Adult.") If you put “N/A” in the category, the website will not track hours for an award.
Start by going to the link above and see the tab that's entitled "Get Involved". Click on Volunteers, click on “register” at the bottom of the page. All records will need to be updated by Feb. 16. This allows time for the Airman and Family Readiness Center to process and order certificates for this year's awardees. You can register as an “individual” or as a "group".
Based on your registration and number of volunteer hours, along with the ultimate honor of presidential recognition, recipients will receive a personalized certificate, an official pin (bronze, silver or gold), and a congratulatory letter from the President of the United States.
