SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. --
Airman 1st Class Lukumon Rasaki, assigned to the 4th Logistics Readiness Squadron, was involved in a hit-and-run accident around 2:55 a.m., Oct. 20, 2018, in Goldsboro, N.C., which resulted in the death of a Goldsboro resident.
A1C Rasaki left the scene of the accident and had subsequently been arrested by members of Goldsboro Police Department and faces a charge of felony hit-and-run.The accident occurred off-base at the intersection of South Slocumb Street and Olivia Lane.
Local authorities have confirmed that the victim, operating a moped, ran a red light, which resulted in the collision. Initial reports indicate that A1C Rasaki was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the incident. A1C Rasaki has been released on a secured bond.
The accident is still under investigation.
“A member of Team Seymour was involved in an accident off base this morning that tragically involved the death of a local resident,” said Col. Donn Yates, 4th Fighter Wing commander. “Goldsboro Police Department is conducting an investigation into the facts and circumstances of the accident, and we stand ready to aid their efforts in any way that we can.”
