This year, the 4th Security Forces Squadron will host a number of events to celebrate National Police Week and welcome you to attend.

Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which it falls in as National Police Week.

The following events will be held.

May 14: Excellence in Competition M9 Pistol Shooting Match. The event will be held on May 14 and is open to all AFSCs. The top 10 percent of shooters will be awarded the Elementary Excellence in Competition Pistol Badge. Due to the amount of people signing up for this event, to sign up call members of the CATM office at 722-0259.

May 15: Ceremony by the base flagpole in front of the 4th Fighter Wing headquarters building at 4 p.m.

May 13-16: In addition to the events listed above, Security Forces would like to invite you and your family to attend "A Snapshot of Security Forces." It is held in building 5005 to the Security Forces training classroom nightly at 5:30 p.m. Each night there will be a different theme to give base personnel a sneak peek into our career field. Item to be covered include but are not limited to, active shooter education, Security Forces weapons and less than lethal weapons, SF vehicles and equipment, and a Military Working Dog demonstration.
