The 4th Medical Operations Squadron Pediatric clinic was presented with the "Outstanding Service Award" from the Autism Society of North Carolina, Wayne County Chapter, April 18, 2013.

The pediatric clinic was presented this award in recognition of the medical care provided to children with autism and the personal support they provide for the Autism Society.

The pediatric clinic was considered for this award thanks to a heartfelt submission by retired Master Sgt. Terry Daily, co-chairperson of the Wayne County Chapter. The 4th MDOS pediatric staff members were surprised to receive such recognition.

"I really enjoyed spending time with the kids from the Autism Society; it was always a fun time," said Airman 1st Class Lauren Dennis, 4th MDOS childcare provider.

But clearly that seemingly simple act of volunteering time is more important than they realized.

"We really appreciate all of the support that pediatrics has given to the society; I personally appreciate all the support that we have gotten for our granddaughter," Daily said. "You all have been outstanding!"

Attending the 7th annual Dessert Reception were over 150 members of the local community, Autism Society members, and other nominees. Amongst those in attendance included North Carolina State Representatives Jimmy Dixon and John Bell, Goldsboro City Council members and Tracey Sheriff, CEO of the Autism Society of North Carolina.

Additionally, Lt. Col. Christian Lyons, 4th MDOS commander, attended to show support for his squadron members.

"I am extremely proud of our Pediatrics clinic - not only for the superior quality of care that they provide each and every day to our Team Seymour families, but also for their selfless dedication to the surrounding community," Lyons said. "It is a testament to the special relationship that our base shares with the City of Goldsboro and Wayne County."
