SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE, N.C. --
Children cheered and clapped as Santa Claus arrived on a horse-drawn carriage to the annual tree lighting ceremony here, Dec. 3.
The 4th Fighter Wing commander, Col. Jeannie Leavitt, kicked off the holiday celebration by providing opening remarks and thanking everyone for contributing to a great year at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
Afterward, Leavitt and Santa lit the base tree in front of more than 600 members of Seymour community. Then Santa took the time to listen to hundreds of children's holiday wish lists.
The event also featured performances by children from the child development and youth centers. Multiple vendors and booster clubs displayed and sold holiday crafts and refreshments. In addition, two horse-drawn carriages were available for free rides.
