A block party and information fair was held at the youth center on base in honor of Military Family Appreciation Month, Nov. 17.

In 1993, Military Family Appreciation Month was established by the Armed Services YMCA and has since been recognized by the U.S. Government.

"During Military Family Month, we celebrate the exceptional service, strength, and sacrifice of our military families, whose commitment to our Nation goes above and beyond the call of duty," said President Barack Obama in his proclamation designating the holiday. "Just as our troops embody the courage and character that make America's military the finest in the world, their family members embody the resilience and generosity that make our communities strong."

The block party, hosted by members of the 4th Force Support Squadron, included various family games, bounce houses, demonstrations from 4th Civil Engineer Squadron fire fighters and a therapeutic petting zoo. Families were also provided free lunch along with dancing and prizes.
