Team Seymour Airmen earn CCAF degrees Published Nov. 8, 2012 By Airman 1st Class Aubrey White 4th Fighter Wing Public Affairs SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- More than 170 Airmen from the 4th Fighter Wing completed their Community College of the Air Force degrees during 2012. The students celebrated their achievement Nov. 2, during a graduation ceremony at Eagles Landing. "The Air Force has always recognized the positive effects of education," said Chief Master Sgt. Todd Cole, 4th Operations Group superintendant. "Programs (like the CCAF) are continuously established to meet the needs of the Air Force, its personnel and society as a whole." Established in 1972, the college evolved as a means of gaining accreditation and recognition for training. Today, the CCAF graduates two classes a year, one in April and another in October with a joint graduation held in the fall. Airmen begin earning CCAF credits in basic training where they are automatically entered into the program. Airmen may also earn up to 24 semester hours during their respective technical schools. "This wasn't a degree you earned just by sitting in a climate-controlled classroom or through online computer classes," Cole said. "You have earned it (while) serving your country around the world."
