This year's theme for Energy Action Month was "I am Air Force Energy," and one furry member of the 4th Civil Engineer Squadron visited several locations on base to share tips on how to be energy efficient.

"Airman e-BEAST," 4th CES energy awareness mascot, along with Matthew Latham, installation energy manager, reminded Team Seymour of their role in ensuring energy efficiency on base and at home. U.S. Air Force Airmen were supplied with various efficient products to include compact, fluorescent light bulbs and power strips.

The installation energy management team also used interactive learning at the youth center and visited one of the base's most cost efficient buildings, the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Consolidated Support Center.

According to Latham, since the CSC opened it has saved more than $32,000 in energy-related costs. The building has achieved the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold certification, the second highest rating based on compliance with environmental laws and regulations developed by the U.S. Green Building Council.
