Members of the 4th Mission Support Group completed motorcycle safety refresher training at the base fire department Oct. 19.

The training stressed the importance of safe riding, the use of personal protective gear and proper riding techniques.

"All Air Force riders are required to attend an annual safety briefing," said Sean Quinby, 4th Civil Engineer Squadron fire emergency services flight chief. "During the 101 Days of Summer, the Air Force lost nine members to motorcycle mishaps. This is up from seven in 2011 and four in 2010. Many of the accidents involved riders who lost control of their motorcycles."

Quinby added that many Airmen in the 4th MSG were due for their annual training and this event allowed them to fulfill their annual requirements.

After the motorcycle safety training, other members of Team Seymour came out to ride with the 4th MSG Airmen on a 40 minute drive around the local area.

"This is a great opportunity for the riders to come out, build bonds and mentorship," said Col. Brent Moran, 4th MSG commander. "We've been educated on the importance of safety and enjoyed a beautiful day of riding."
