4th Fighter Wing receives AF Outstanding Unit Award

Air Combat Command officials named the 4th Fighter Wing as 2012 AF Outstanding Unit Award.

The award is given to units who perform exceptionally meritorious service, excel in combat operations against an armed enemy of the United States or conducts with distinct military operations involving conflict with a hostile action by any opposing foreign force. The actions of those assigned to the unit must display outstanding devotion and superior performance during serve directly related to combat efforts, setting it apart from other units with similar missions.

"Over the past year the men and women of the 4th Fighter Wing have ensured dominant Strike Eagle airpower across the globe through an unrelenting commitment to integrity, service and excellence," said Col. Jeannie Leavitt, 4th FW commander. "This recognition is a testament to the character of every Airman and civilian of this wing. Their tireless efforts have evolved operational effectiveness, optimized resources, improved infrastructure and ensured we remain 'Fourth... but First.'"
