Stand against drug use Published Oct. 5, 2012 By the 4th Medical Operations Squadron Demand Reduction Program Office SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- The 4th Medical Operations Squadron Demand Reduction Program Office invites the base community to take a visible stand against drugs by celebrating Red Ribbon Week Oct. 23-30. "Red Ribbon Week encourages our entire community to adopt healthy, drug free lifestyles," said Allison McQueen, 4th MDOS Demand Reduction Program manager. "The campaign is just another way we can focus on keeping our base community drug free." The red ribbon symbolizes a continuing community commitment to reducing the demand for illicit drugs and helping youth focus on smart choices. "Research shows that children are less likely to use drugs and alcohol when parents and base role models are clear and consistent with their drug free messages," McQueen said. This year's celebration will include activities on base for all age groups. These events include a youth center event and a poster contest. In addition, there will be a Red Ribbon Gate Walk Oct. 23 and a 5k run Oct. 26.
