Members of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and local community came together to run and walk in support of the war against domestic violence during the 4th Annual Wife Appreciation Run at Stoney Creek Park, Sept. 29.

The presentation of the colors, by the 4th Fighter Wing Honor Guard, and the singing of the National Anthem kicked off the event.

U.S. Air Force Col. Leslie Claravall, 4th Medical Group commander, along with the mayor of Goldsboro, Al King, and representatives from the Wayne County Sheriff's Department and Wayne Uplift Resource Association, a local domestic violence shelter, spoke to a crowd about outlets available for people affected by domestic violence.

Participants showed their commitment by running in a 5k race or walking a mile. All event proceeds benefited the Wayne Uplift Resource Association.
