One of Team Seymour's youth earned recognition as the Air Force-wide winner of the "you got talent" competition, Sept. 27.

A performance video of Brianna Buss, 12, singing and playing piano to the song, "Piano Man" was submitted to the contest during the spring.

"When I first entered the competition I didn't expect to win," Brianna said. "I was just doing it for fun, so this is a surprise."

The annual UGT contest is an Air Force Services Agency program designed to provide youth the opportunity to develop creative expression and an appreciation of the arts, while recognizing the most talented throughout the Air Force.

"It feels amazing to be able to give out an Air Force-level award to one of our own," said Col. Jeannie Leavitt, 4th Fighter Wing commander.

According to her father, Brianna's love for music came from her mother and grandfather, who both have an ear for several musical instruments. Although music has always been second nature to Brianna, her talent flourished once she was given a piano as a 10th birthday gift.

"All of the voice and piano lessons really paid off," said retired Master Sgt. Brian Buss. "I am very proud of all of her dedication."

Brianna's talents have also been showcased during S.J. Idol, a Seymour Johnson Air Force Base talent competition and art shows in downtown Goldsboro, N.C.
