It may seem like the 4th Fighter Wing's last operational readiness exercise was just yesterday and not much time has passed since, but Team Seymour is preparing for its next round Sept. 17-20.

This exercise, the 4th FW will be living up to its "Fourth but First" motto by being the first in Air Combat Command to function under altered exercise procedures.

Quite similar to previous exercises, ORE Coronet Warrior 12-04 will include both phases I and II. The exercise will test the wing's ability to rapidly deploy and the ability to survive and operate under simulated conventional, chemical and biological conditions.

According to Lt. Col. Brian Montgomery, 4th Fighter Wing inspections and exercises director, one significant change in the start of the exercise is operations during phase I. Instead of all personnel being tasked in phase I, some will already have simulated having deployed to Base-X. Others will ensure the home station function continuance. Most other processes in phase II will continue as they previously did.

Evaluation team members will inspect Airmen on their ability to respond to several scenarios, which will include chemical attacks, cordoning off unexploded ordnances, providing emergency medical care and responding to a variety of enemy attacks during the exercise.
