A ribbon cutting ceremony re-opening the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Family Life Center was held by 4th Fighter Wing chaplains and the Family Advocacy team here, July 2.

Since its completion in 2003, the former religious education center, now the Family Life Center, has hosted base and chapel programs including Sunday school, vacation bible school, children's church and suicide prevention training.

In 2011, an expansion was approved to add 3,000 square feet to provide space for more classrooms, larger conference rooms and office space for Family Advocacy programs. The combined facility was renamed because of the array of family and Airman support services provided.

Not only does the new expansion assist in hosting relationship training and prevention programs, its larger classrooms and conference rooms are available to base groups and agencies for reserve through the chapel office.

Although much has been completed with the 2011 expansion funding, the base chaplains still have plans for building a playground to go along with their new daycare.
