U.S. Air Force Col. Jeannie Leavitt addressed Team Seymour at her first commander's call as the 4th Fighter Wing commander here, June 27.

A commander's call is typically a forum where a commander speaks to his or her people regarding current or imminent topics and concerns. Several matters ranging from personnel issues to family health and safety are often discussed.

Leavitt began the call with a brief synopsis of her history at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base as well as how critical everyone's position in the wing is, especially with an upcoming operational readiness exercise and next year's operational readiness inspection.

"There are not certain roles more important than others and (the wing) needs each and every one of you to accomplish its mission," the colonel said. "We need to be able to provide precision combat air power anywhere, any time and the ORI is a chance for us to validate that capability."

Leavitt also took this opportunity to promote respect amongst members of Team Seymour in the sense of not drinking and driving, keeping physical fitness standards high and always displaying Air Force core values. She believes that continuing to meet those principles translates to having self-respect, which in turn will further support the 4th FW mission.

In closing, the colonel reminded the audience that they are always Airmen first, whether in uniform or not. She also thanked them for volunteering to be part of less than half of one percent of the American population who serve in the military.

"I thank you for that and I thank you for your service," she said. "Fourth but First!"
