Weekly Bulletins for May 24 Published May 24, 2012 By 4th Fighter Wing Public Affairs SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- The following is a list of events taking place across the wing and in the local community: - The Seymour Johnson School Age Program Summer Camp registration is open until May 31. The camp, open to children ages 5-12, takes place at the youth center from June 11 through Aug. 24. Parents and guardians may sign their children up for the weeks of their choice. The camp includes field trips, weekly swimming, bi-weekly bowling and library trips, special interest clubs and open choice activities. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be served daily. Camp hours are from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The camp will not take place on federal holidays. Fees are based on total family income. For more information, call the youth center at 919-722-0502. - Help influence the city's future by attending a comprehensive planning meeting for Goldsboro and the surrounding area. During the meeting, topics of discussion include transportation, housing, park facilities, historic areas, utilities and zoning. Meetings take place May 24 from 3-7:30 p.m. and may 31 from 6-8 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church at 1100 The First Church Rd. in Goldsboro. The cost is $25 per couple, which includes two nights at a beachfront resort, registration and partial meals. For more information call 919-722-0315. - Effective June 1, Wing In-Processing will be conducted each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Members are reminded to bring the following mandatory items to in-process: completed Duty Information Worksheet, sealed in-processing package and a copy of PCS orders. For additional information, call 4th FSS/Customer Support at 722-8686/8679/8680. - The 4th Medical Group will be closed June 1 until 1 p.m., with the exception of active duty sick call from 7:30-8:30 a.m. - The 2nd Annual Air Force Sergeants Association Wounded Warrior Poker Run is June 2 with registration at the starting point from 8 a.m. until noon at the Firestone Car Care Center on Berkley Boulevard in Goldsboro. The cost is $10 a hand. The last card will be drawn at 5 p.m. Cars and bikes are welcome. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Program. For more information, call Tech. Sgt. James Richard at 919-722-3607. - The fitness center K-9 run has moved to June 2 with a 9:30 a.m. show time and a 10 a.m. start. Runners and their dogs will meet at Kimpo Park. Aggressive animals are not allowed. Fitness staff members have the authority to tell an owner their pet is not allowed to participate in the run. Owners must pick up after their pets. - Brooks Street is closed through approximately June 4 for the re-construction of the intersection with Humphrey Street. During the construction work, Brooks Street will be closed adjacent to Humphrey Street. Access to the parking lots will not be impacted. - The city of Goldsboro is looking for participation in order to better the town and some of the surrounding areas. In 2012, the city initiated a planning effort to provide a creative and dynamic plan to guide the future long-term growth and development of areas such as; all of Goldsboro and Saulston townships as well as portions of Buck Swamp, Fork, Brogden and New Hope. To participate in this initiative and express your opinions, take the "Goldsboro Urbanized Area Comprehensive Plan Questionnaire by June 15," at www.ci.goldsboro.nc. -The Wayne County Museum will be hosting a journalism exhibit through July 20. Anyone authorized on base, including active duty, reserve, guard, retired military, dependants and Department of Defense employees can use this service.
