Base pool opens for summer

As the beginning of summer creeps near and the temperature continues to raise the Olympic pool will open for weekend swimming Memorial Day weekend.

The Olympic pool initial hours of operation are May 26-28 and June 2-3 from 1-6 p.m.

Effective June 7, the Olympic pool officially opens for the season. Patrons can swim daily from 1-6 p.m. The pool is also open to adults for lap swim, from 6:30-8 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. There is no charge for lap swimming during these times.

The pool is open to all military, retirees, Department of Defense civilians and their families. A daily pool pass is $3. Season passes begin at $50 for a single person and cost $15 for each additional family member, fifth and additional family members are $10 each.

The Mommy and Me Baby Pool Pass program provides mothers and a child under age 5 season access to only the baby pools for $25. The seasonal cost for each additional child under age 5 is $10. If a mother wants to purchase a month-long Mommy and Me pass, the cost is $10, with an extra charge of $5 for each additional child under 5. Neither the child nor parent may use any other pool with this pass.

Upcoming pool events:
· June 8: Family Pool Party from 6:30-8:30 p.m. entry is $3. The event is free to pool pass holders.
· July 27: A free pool pass appreciation party for all pass holders takes place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. There will be music, hot dogs, drinks and prizes.
· Aug. 4: A back-to-school party from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The event is free to pool pass holders and $3 for all others.
· Swimming lessons are available for a fee.
· The pool is available for private party reservations for a fee.
