The following is a list of events taking place across the wing and in the local community:

- The 4th Medical Group will be closed April 27, 2012 due to a wing function.

-The Wayne County Museum will be hosting a Journalism Exhibit from April 28 to July 20. An opening event will be April 28 at 1 p.m. and will have guest speaker Carl Kasell of National Public Radio fame, with a reception to follow. The reception is free to the public. - The USO is hosting military families reading and study skills seminars April 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Watkins-Das Learning Center. Three seminars take place during the event are proven reading development tips for pre-kindergarten through first grade, reading comprehension skills for second through fifth and developing effective study habits for middle school students. - The N.C. State Wolfpack is hosting a Military Appreciation Day baseball game April 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Doak Field on the N.C. State campus. As part of the event, fans with a military ID, their families and their children will receive free admission. Military guests can purchase discounted tickets for $3 at the gate. Note that a military ID is required to receive special admission and pricing. For additional information about tickets,

- UNITEDWAYNE has partnered with Galaxy Digital to create a customized volunteer site where volunteers and non-profit organizations can peruse volunteer opportunities throughout Wayne County. United Way of Wayne County will be hosting 30 minute training for all non-profit organizations at the United Way office, 301 E. Ash Street, on May 1, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. and at 3:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.unitedwayne.org or call 919-735-3591.

- A Couples Communication class will be held May 16 from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Family Place. For more information and to sign up, call 919-722-1123 or 919-722-1878.

- Run to Rescue it hosting spaghetti dinner May 18 at 6 p.m. and 5K trail run/walk May 19 at 8 a.m. Both events take place at Perry Farms in Kinston. The event will benefit She Is She, an organization that rescues and restores women and girls from abuse and slavery. - The city of Goldsboro is looking for participation in order to better the town and some of the surrounding areas. In 2012, the city initiated a planning effort to provide a creative and dynamic plan to guide the future long-term growth and development of areas such as; all of Goldsboro and Saulston townships as well as portions of Buck Swamp, Fork, Brogden and New Hope. To participate in this initiative and express your opinions, take the "Goldsboro Urbanized Area Comprehensive Plan Questionnaire," at www.ci.goldsboro.nc.

- A pre-Memorial Day celebration will be taking place May 4 at Herman Park Center. There will be a free lunch for Active Duty personnel on Seymour Johnson Air Force base from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., recognizing their contributions to freedom.
