4th CES EOD open house

SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. --  In remembrance of the explosive ordnance disposal technicians killed in action throughout the past year, Airmen from the 4th Civil Engineer Squadron EOD flight will host their first open house from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. here May 1.

"This is an opportunity for the EOD flight to show people what we do as well as some of our accomplishments throughout the progression of our career field," said Master Sgt. Vandiver Hood, 4th CES EOD flight superintendant.

The first Saturday of May is National EOD Day and not only is the EOD flight offering citizens with access to the base an inside look on what they do, but also to celebrate the lives of fallen EOD technicians.

"We will place all of the names of EOD technicians who have been killed in action throughout the past year onto the EOD memorial at Eglin Air Force Base, Fl.," Hood said. "There will be 18 names added to the wall including Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and five Airmen."

The EOD flight open house will include a six-mile EOD 9-bomb disposal suit relay-run, 7 a.m. starting at the Red Horse Squadron, and an opportunity to test drive the F6A EOD robot.
