The Air Force Recruiting Service will feature a 4th Fighter Wing Airman on the Air Force's commercial website as part of a series titled "American Airmen."

U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Nicole Malachowski, 333rd Fighter Squadron commander, is one of 14 Airmen in the Air Force who will be profiled on airforce.com.

As an Air Force Academy graduate and the first female Thunderbird pilot, she has inspired hundreds during her career to strive for greatness.

"This is a great Air Force which provides amazing opportunities for those willing to be part of something much bigger than themselves," she said. "Hopefully my story demonstrates to others that it is ok to dream big."

"American Airmen" will aim to highlight the diversity in today's Air Force in an effort to attract young recruits, according to Jim Askins, Air Force Recruiting Service advertising account executive at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.

"We have Airmen from different backgrounds and walks of life," Askins said. "We are showing the different opportunities available. Colonel Malachowski has a great story to share, she is very inspirational and has touched a lot of lives."

Askins said he was inspired by Malachowski during the project's filming, after she attributed her successful career to the dedication of others.

"As the first female Thunderbird pilot, she's received more than 500 fan letters and returned each one of those with hand-written notes," he said. "She also appreciates the hard work each of her Airmen do every day."

Although she's been featured in Air Force products before, Malachowski said she feels excited to see the final from AFRS spots.

"I'm most excited to read about and learn from the other Airmen highlighted in this program," Malachowski said. "It was my honor to have the chance to highlight the amazing work done each day by the men and women of the 333rd FS, and the dedication and professionalism of all Airmen across the 4th FW."

In addition to the Airmen featured in 2012, AFRS plans to highlight four Airmen annually as part of the program. For updated features on the program, visit www.airforce.com.
