The following is a list of events taking place across the wing and in the local community:

- Step Up For Soldiers is hosting a 5k combat mud run April 14 in Wilmington, N.C. The obstacle run consists of 14 obstacles, four of which have mud pits. Event registration costs $50. All proceeds will benefit combat wounded veterans and their families. For more information or to register, visit www.stepupforsoldiers.org.  

- The Air Force premier ensemble jazz band "Airmen of Note" will perform two free concerts this month in North Carolina. The first show is April 14 at 7 p.m. at Grainger-Hill Performing Arts Center in Kinston. The second performance is April 15 at 3 p.m. at Fike High School Auditorium in Wilson. - The 4th Civil Engineer Squadron will conduct annual unidirectional flushing throughout the base through April 16. This annual program ensures the highest levels of water quality are maintained. During the flushing period, base residents may experience discolored water and housing residents may also notice reduced water pressure not to exceed 30 minutes. The 4th CES's Strike Eagle Hardware Store has rust remover available to assist with stain problems in washing machines, bathtubs and toilets which may arise as a result of the hydrant flushing. - A 1-2-3 Magic Parenting Class is April 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Family Place. The class covers the two biggest parenting mistakes, how to control obnoxious behaviors and encourage good behaviors and how to strengthening the parent/child relationship. The event includes a free lunch and childcare. To register for the class, call 919-722-1123.

- The wing's annual ice cream social will celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Week April 18 at 1 p.m. in Heritage Hall. For more information, call Sherry Kindlesparker at 919-722-1123.

- The American Legion in Walstonburg is hosting a "Proud to be an American Day" Celebration April 21. Veterans and military personnel registration begins at 10 a.m. so they can be recognized during the ceremony. - "Spring Cleaning Week" is April 23-27. Take this opportunity to spruce up in and around your facilities. Airmen performing cleaning duties April 23 are authorized the wear of ABUs. Residents of military family housing are encouraged to straighten up around their homes. There will be a MFH bulk trash pick-up April 27.

- The USO is hosting military families reading and study skills seminars April 28 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Watkins-Das Learning Center. Three seminars take place during the event are proven reading development tips for pre-kindergarten through first grade, reading comprehension skills for second through fifth and developing effective study habits for middle school students. - The N.C. State Wolfpack is hosting a Military Appreciation Day baseball game April 28 at 6:30 p.m. at Doak Field on the N.C. State campus. As part of the event, fans with a military ID, their families and their children will receive free admission. Military guests can purchase discounted tickets for $3 at the gate. Note that a military ID is required to receive special admission and pricing.
