The Air Force premier ensemble jazz band "Airmen of Note" will perform two free concerts this month in North Carolina.

The first show is April 14 at 7 p.m. at Grainger-Hill Performing Arts Center in Kinston. The second performance is April 15 at 3 p.m. at Fike High School Auditorium in Wilson.

According to their website, "The band was created in 1950 to carry on the tradition of Maj. Glenn Miller's Army Air Corps dance band. Today the 'Note' features 18 of the most talented jazz musicians in the country and is one of the last touring big bands. As a result, it has earned an international reputation as one of the finest and most versatile big bands of its kind in the world."

The band's Facebook fans posted rave reviews of their recent show at Damascus High School in Maryland.

"It was a truly spectacular performance," said Ian Donaghue.

Fellow concert attendee Janet Baptie Robertson agreed, "A really great concert."
