Enlisted and officer performance reports are a critical part of any Airman's career. Promotions, paychecks and assignments are all impacted by EPR and OPR timeliness.

The Force Management Operations office encounters common delays such as incorrect dates, raters, social security numbers, bullet format, spelling, organization info and most of all, prohibited statements.

Last year the 4th Fighter Wing on-time performance report turn-in rate was 50 percent. However, a wing- wide-effort to improve timeliness has paid off. The combined determination and focus raised the on-time turn in rate to 97 percent.

Air Combat Command's goal is to have all wings at a 90 percent turn in rate.

"The 4th Fighter Wing has improved a lot in turning in reports on time but there is still room for improvement," said Staff Sgt. Keyone Cropper, 4th Force Support Squadron force management supervisor. "Our goal is to have a 100 percent turn-in rate."

The EPR and OPR submission process can be time intensive. An Airman's supervisor, or rater, writes the report, which is then reviewed by the rater's supervisor. After additional review the report is approved by the first sergeant and signed by an Airman's commander. After squadrons finish internal reviews reports are sent to the 4th Force Support Squadron for a final assessment before loading into the military personnel data system.

Since the submission process includes multiple reviews, approvals and signatures supervisors should not delay working on performance reports.

"The bottom line is this, by processing reports on time; we take care of our Airmen," said Chief Master Sgt. Todd Cole, 4th Operations Group superintendent. "We ensure their most up-to-date and accurate performance information is available to compete for promotions, increased responsibility and various assignment opportunities."
