Project Heart provides service members care packages and scholarships. For more information or to register, go to www.register.runtheeast.com and search Run for Freedom. - The Scott Berkeley Chapter of the Air Force Association will soon award $1,000 scholarships to deserving high school seniors and spouses beginning their college education as a first time college student. Applicants must be a dependent or spouse of active duty, retired, guard or reserve Air Force personnel. Applications are available at the education and training office. The deadline for application submissions is March 23. The obstacle run consists of 14 obstacles, four of which have mud pits. Event registration costs $50. All proceeds will benefit combat wounded veterans and their families. For more information or to register, visit www.stepupforsoldiers.org. - The 4th Civil Engineer Squadron will conduct annual unidirectional flushing throughout the base through April 16. This annual program ensures the highest levels of water quality are maintained. During the flushing period, base residents may experience discolored water and housing residents may also notice reduced water pressure not to exceed 30 minutes. The 4th CES's Strike Eagle Hardware Store has rust remover available to assist with stain problems in washing machines, bathtubs and toilets which may arise as a result of the hydrant flushing. STARBASE is a five-day math and science camp for rising fifth graders. Participants perform science experiments, build and launch model rockets, study Bernoulli's Principles of Flight and Newton's Laws of Motion, tour base facilities and more. Class size is limited, but children of base personnel have first priority.
