The 4th Fighter Wing conducted its first Operational Readiness Exercise of the year here March 5 - 8.

Exercise Coronet Warrior 12 - 02 differed from past ones; it consisted of a Phase I and II.
The combined ORE helped Airmen gain experience and knowledge to understand what it takes to deploy from their home station to conduct operations in a deployed location. If they have to deploy at a moment's notice these Airmen will have the skills to get the job done.

"For the most part I think we did a pretty good job," said Capt. Matthew D' Eufemia, 4th Civil Engineer Squadron operations flight commander. "We deploy so much that this type of training gives us the tools to accomplish each task fast and efficiently."

Exercise evaluation team members created many different scenarios to observe how Airmen react and respond. The scenarios included chemical attacks, cordoning off unexploded ordnances, providing emergency medical care and response to a variety of enemy attacks.

The scenarios the Airmen responded to are pretty similar to what they could encounter in a deployed location said Senior Master Sgt. Michael Jenkins, 4th Medical Operations Squadron superintendent and exercise evaluation team member.

Despite several successful scenario responses, the ORE showed the need for some improvement.

"Our Airmen were a little disorganized and could have communicated better," Jenkins said. "But that is why we conduct this training, so we can get it right for real world operations."

"The team effort out there was great, "said D' Eufemia. "We came together and took on each scenario as a team helping each other out."
