The 4th Force Support Squadron outdoor recreation center teamed up with vendors from surrounding communities and states to hold the annual Travel, Leisure and Entertainment Expo here, Feb. 22.

The expo began in 2003 as an opportunity for the base community to learn about regional and local attractions and events. It gives companies a chance to interact with base personnel and inform Airmen and their families of locations where they can spend free time.

"The travel expo gives us a chance to interact with people and bring many guests from Seymour Johnson to our business," said Eason Bryan, ZipQuest waterfall and treetop adventure co-owner. "We are thankful for the business and a chance to create a memory that will last a lifetime."

Thirty-five vendors showcased their businesses, answered questions and handed out brochures and promotional souvenirs. Each vendor offered something different such as discount rooms, family beaches and fishing locations, zip lining tours and free tickets to events.

"Leave is usually at a premium here on base, people want to make the most of their time and money," said Julie Marciel-Rozzi, 4th FSS outdoor recreation assistant. "Contrary to what many people think, there is a lot to do in the area."

Upon arrival to the event, raffle tickets were given to each person, giving them the chance to win one of 23 giveaways. The door prizes were supplied by the vendors and included one or two night stays at various resorts, amusement park tickets, concert tickets and many others.

"The expo was great, people were interacting and it allowed me to see what fun places and activities are out there," said Airman Justin Davis, 4th FSS food service apprentice.

During the event, 450 Team Seymour members were offered free hot dogs, free drinks and live entertainment.
