Pharmacy allows prescriptions transfers Published Dec. 8, 2011 By Capt. Timothy Roche SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- The 4th Medical Group pharmacy now allows patients to transfer prescriptions from civilian pharmacies (e.g. Walgreens, CVS, Rite-Aid, etc.) to the clinic on base. This change was being implemented to increase the pharmacy's prescription recapture and because several off-base pharmacies are no longer members of the TRICARE network. Here are a few helpful tips to help make the transition easier: · Allow up to three duty days. Transfers will not be filled the same day Patients are urged not to wait until they are out of their medicine. · Patients must bring their bottles to the pharmacy and give them to a technician for refills. · If you have never filled a prescription at the 4 MDG or it has been a number of years, you must enroll in TRICARE on base. This can be accomplished the same day you attempt to get a prescription filled. · If you do not bring your prescription to the pharmacy, a pharmacist may obtain your information from your provider, which may delay the refill process. · The 4 MDG will not transfer controlled substances. Patients will need a new prescription from their provider. · Non-formulary items will not be transferred. The pharmacist can contact a provider to have the medication changed to a formulary item, which is preferred, or the patient can continue to receive the medication from an off-base pharmacy, at their expense. For any questions or concerns about prescriptions at the 4 MDG pharmacy contact either Capt. Timothy Roche or Master Sgt. Dannielle Mitstifer at (919) 722-1811/1815.
