Thanksgiving is a holiday for families to get together and enjoy a feast and when it comes to our Air Force family the annual food basket drive has made sure that Airmen in need will have a Thanksgiving dinner.

The Butterball Company, 4th Fighter Wing Airmen and members from the local community donated food for Airmen who are struggling to make ends meet this season.

"I think this is a wonderful program," said Master Sgt. Paul Money, 4th Security Forces Squadron first sergeant. "Helping our Airmen out to ensure they have a proper holiday is very rewarding."

The Butterball Company donated 270 turkeys for food baskets. Each basket was filled with a complete meal which included yams, green beans, stuffing, mashed potatoes and a turkey. Although anyone can volunteer to help pack and deliver these gift baskets, the Airman Leadership School's future non-commissioned officers decided to donate their time to help.

"I enjoy being able to participate and help out Airmen and their families, it's very rewarding," said Senior Airman Cassandra Guzman, 4th Operations Support Squadron weather forecaster.

The Airmen who are scheduled to receive these baskets, have no idea that they are coming. Every first sergeant on base sent an email to each section finding out which Airmen would most benefit most from the donation.

"We know times can get hard and money can become an issue and the program's goal is to help these particular individuals have a joyous Thanksgiving," Money said.

The food basket drive is always accepting donations. For more information regarding donations please contact Master Sgt. Paul Money at (919) 722-2374.
