The 4th Fighter Wing will host an Air Force Ball Oct. 1 commemorating 64 years of worldwide air superiority.

While to many the Air Force Ball may sound like another banquet or a reason to be in formal or semi-formal dress uniforms, the event is planned to give Airmen a chance to celebrate their heritage among their peers in a formal setting. Between high operations tempo of the wing and the extended deployments of our Airmen, many do not often get the chance to meet people outside their career field.

The easiest thing to do after work for Airman is to go back to their dormitory or home. Those who have been in the Air Force for several years, some more years than many first term Airmen have been alive, give stories about the "old" Air Force, where there was more camaraderie, Airmen frequented the base clubs on a daily basis and there was a stronger sense of pride to be part of their respective units. The Air Force Ball planning committee hopes to show that those traditions live on today as they did when they began 64 years ago.

The ball will not be your typical setting, as the purpose is purely for celebration. There will be a vast selection of spirits available during cocktail hour and also various finger foods will be served all night in place of a formal sit down dinner. The Blue Aces band will provide entertainment, along with a DJ who will play Top 40 hits all night in a separate room.

Admission is $15 for Airmen E-1 to E-4, $20 for E-5 to E-6, E-7 to O-3 and $30 for O-4 and above. Attire is semi-formal/mess dress for Airmen and black tie/formal for civilians. Contact your group representatives to purchase tickets ASAP, as they are limited.
