The 4th Comptrollers Squadron is implementing a new program to streamline in-processing to a few simple steps.

The new program, called PIPS (Permanent-change of station in-processing system) was created to alleviate the stress of processing in to the finance system and to free manpower hours for finance Airmen, said Airman 1st Class James Miller, 4th CPTS customer service technician.

PiPS is used to review, approve and disburse money to Department of Defense travelers for official government travel.

"It is a pretty convenient system, because now, people won't have to sit through the long briefing, and with manning pretty low, it is helpful for us also."

In previous years, when Airmen PCSed into a new base, their travel voucher was processed only in the local finance office, but now, all claims are processed both locally and through the Air Force Financial Service Center at Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D. They would also have to attend a mandatory briefing on how to file their voucher.

The system is focuses on the need for an accurate, relevant information exchange. When a member starts using PIPS, they will be asked whether they are PCSing to an overseas location or within the continental United States. PIPS will use this response to present a briefing containing the correct information based on where they are going. Included in this briefing are links to entitlements, rates payable and frequently asked questions relative to the PCS move.

PIPS is accessible from any CAC-enabled computer, via the Air Force Portal under the Finance and Travel tab. Airman can contact the base finance office at 919-722-5373 with any questions or concerns about the system or visit the PIPS site at https://www.my.af.mil/efinanceprod.
