Two hundred thirty five years ago, the United States of America declared its independence from Britain. Today, this monumental occasion is celebrated on the 4th of July. Americans gather to celebrate by grilling food, playing games, listening to music and watching fireworks light up the night sky.

Team Seymour celebrated with activities such as a 5k and 10k Freedom Run and a festival where more than 3,000 Airmen and their families gathered for a performance by the Chain of Command Band, food, games and a fireworks display. Base agencies organized food, gaming and merchandise booths as a fund raising event. Activities included a dunk booth, a kid's zone with giant inflatable water slides and bounce castles, water balloon wars, a magic show and face painting. Food booths were selling grilled hot dogs and burgers, nachos, cotton candy, funnel cakes and cold drinks.

"The celebration was surprisingly busy and a lot of fun." Senior Airman Aimee Inman, 4th Operations Group knowledge operations administrator, explained, "I was very impressed with the fireworks, they were awesome."
