Party for Airmen set to welcome home, say ‘thank you’ Published April 7, 2011 By Staff Sgt. Heather Stanton 4th Fighter Wing Public Affairs SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- All Seymour Johnson personnel are invited to attend the Airmen's Appreciation Party April 15 at 6 p.m. in the Eagle's Landing Club for a night of free fun. "This party is a 'thank you' to every Airman on this base, not only for what they've done to support the Wings Over Wayne Air Show (and Open House), but also everything they do to support the day-to-day mission," said 1st Lt. Emily Shanes, 4th Force Support Squadron sustainment services flight chief. The extravaganza will also welcome home the more than 300 Airmen who recently returned from a six-month deployment to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan. Two bands will perform at the party: The Garage Boys will go on stage at 6 p.m. and Seymour Johnson's own Chain of Command Band will play at 8:30 p.m. Also, the Thunderbirds team and other air show performers are expected to drop in, Lieutenant Shanes said. In addition to the event being free, there will be free hor d'ouevres and the club's bars will be open all night to purchase beverages.
