Personal property summer surge procedures

With the peak permanent change of station season right around the corner, Headquarters Air Force Personal Property Activity has issued procedures to assist with the summer surge to ensure customers receive the best service possible.

Effective April 1, the Joint Personal Property Shipping Office Northeast will require a minimum of three weeks notice for all out-bound personal property shipments to include non-temporary storage pickups and deliveries. For shipments requiring pack/pickup inside the three-week window, the customer must provide an emergency impact statement to a TMO representative who will forward it to JPPSO-NE. The impact statement explains why the shipment must be picked up inside the three-week window.

Customers should have more than one pick-up date in mind when they go to TMO. A JPPSO-NE representative will try to book the desired dates, and if these dates are full, they will attempt to book a selected alternate date. After booking a shipment, a JPPSO-NE representative will contact customers by e-mail or phone to confirm the date and carrier information. Once booked, any changes to pick-up dates must be done by the customer through the booking office.

In order to start the moving process, orders must be brought to TMO. PCS orders are your authority to make the move and are required to accompany the shipment application to the booking office.

For more information about summer surge procedures or answers to other move questions, visit TMO at 1280 Humphreys St., Bldg 3500 or call 722-5455.
