Airman and civilians from the 4th Contracting Squadron here demonstrated they can compete with the "best of the best" by earning four Air Combat Command Annual Contracting Awards and an Air Force Annual Contracting Award.

Both civilian and military members at the 4th CONS understand the importance of their mission statement to "satisfy customer requirements at home and abroad," said 2nd Lieutenant Aaron Velasco, a contracting officer here.

Home station requirements can range from providing furniture for the dorms, building new military family housing, repairing the runway or providing qualified doctors and nurses to augment the 4th Medical Group. In deployed locations, 4th CONS Contingency Contracting officers fulfill similar requirements as they sustain a demanding deployment tempo of six months deployment and six months home of which they are vulnerable to deploy again.

Despite the challenges, 4th CONS members consistently answer the call with excellence. These 2010 awards signify their dedication to the mission, Lieutenant Velasco said.

The 4th CONS specialist earned the following awards:

- 2010 ACC Outstanding Contracting Small Unit - 4th CONS
- 2010 ACC Outstanding Contracting Civilian GS-12 and above: Bobbie White
- 2010 ACC Outstanding Contracting Enlisted Member (Airman): Senior Airman Matthew Rowe
- 2010 ACC Outstanding Enlisted CCO: Master Sgt. Melissa A. Haase
- 2010 Air Force "Staff Sgt. Ronald L. King" Outstanding CCO Award (Enlisted): Master Sgt. Melissa A. Haase
