Seymour Johnson host Civic Leader Tour

The 916th Air Refueling Wing and the 4th Fighter Wing will host the 2011 Joint Civic Leader Tour to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., and to Barksdale Air Force Base, La., March 14-15.

Civic leader tours are designed to increase public awareness and understanding of current military capabilities utilizing global mobility, air superiority and precision strike capabilities of the U. S. Air Force. Guests will receive a first-hand look at various aspects of the active duty and Reserve Air Force mission as they meet many of the people whose efforts help ensure our nation's continued military strength.

"This year 33 community leaders from the local area, the NC Department of Commerce and the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce will join our leadership to fly on a KC-135R Stratotanker and meet active duty and Reservists from these bases," said Robin DeMark, 4th Fighter Wing Public Affairs deputy chief.

Upon arrival at Davis-Monthan AFB, guests will enjoy lunch with leadership and meet the local military affairs committee members. After lunch, they will tour the base for the remainder of the day. At Davis-Monthan AFB, they will learn about the 355th Fighter Wing, tour state-of-the-art fitness facilities and see various aircraft assigned to the wing.

On the morning of March 15, the group will depart and fly to Barksdale AFB to tour cyberspace facilities and the 8th Air Force museum. Later that evening, the group will return to Seymour Johnson and enjoy a social at Heritage Hall to further network and fellowship with each other.
