The 2010 Combined Federal Campaign has begun, providing members of the Seymour Johnson community the chance to conveniently donate to numerous charities.

"The Seymour Johnson goal this year is to raise $190,000," said Capt. Michael Ahl, 4th Fighter Wing CFC project officer. "We can't meet our goal without your help. Your individual contribution makes a huge difference to those in need and supports thousands of worthy charities."

More than 2,700 local, national and international charitable organizations participate in the CFC, which requires participating charities to meet established standards and pass annual reviews.

"Charities that apply to receive funds through the CFC are required to submit an extensive review of their financial and government practices prior to acceptance," according to the CFC Web site. "This eligibility review has helped set standards for participation in giving initiatives that transcend the community."

These organizations range from charities that benefit veterans to those that provide scholarships for high school students. The CFC provides service members and civilians the ability to donate to their favorite charities through allotments or a pay deduction.

"This year also marks the first year that you can make your contribution online," Captain Ahl said. "(To do this) go to www.senccfc.org and select the 'Click Here to Pledge Online' to make your donation today."
