SJ hosts annual disabilities community luncheon

The Mayor's Committee for Persons with Disabilities will hold its Annual Awards Luncheon at noon Oct. 21 in Eagles Landing.

The awards luncheon, which will feature guest speaker John Register, is open to the entire Seymour Johnson community.

Mr. Register is a Gulf War veteran and amputee athlete who has a Paralympic Games silver medal, said retired Master Sgt. Jim Mullen, Mayor's Committee for Persons with Disabilities public affairs director.

During the luncheon, awards will be presented for the Employee of the Year, Employer to the Year, the Committee Member of the Year, The Most Accessible Business and The Mayor's Trophy.

To nominate a person or business for an award pick up a form at City Hall in the Community Affairs Office. The deadline to submit nominations is Oct. 4. Tickets for the lunch are available for purchase at the Community Affairs office until Oct. 8 for $12.
